There are many that see God as this Holy Righteous God of judgement. God is Holy, Righteous and a God of judgment, however God is also a God of love, mercy, forgiveness and compassion. When God sent Jesus to die on the cross for the sins of the world, God made a way for us to receive forgiveness. When we except the fact that Christ died on the cross for our sins and that through Christ we have forgiveness of sins, we start to understand and see that God is a God of love, mercy, forgiveness and compassion. Now that's good news!

Let us seek the God of compassion.

The book of Revelations is a wonderful book filled with the revelations that John received from God. It is an intense book of the Bible, however, fun to study. Just performing a word study around certain words in the book is very exciting. Here's a great scripture to ponder:

Our daughter loves sweets, as do most children. My wife loves chocolate chip cookies and milk. Every once in a while the two of them make home made chocolate chip cookies which is a blast to see. You see, our five year old, well she has arrived. She has her mothers independence, her mother's I know it all attitude and to watch the two of them baking together is funny. As I'm writing this, I'm reminded of the Ginger Bread cookies with all the dressings that were as hard as cement after they came out of the oven. Thank God the chocolate chip cookies don't turn out that way. It's fun to spend quality time with the kids cooking cookies and then sitting around with them watching them dip them into milk.

I can remember as a child my dad and uncles drinking beer while driving. The old brown paper bag days. Of course back them if you got pulled over, they basically made you dump it out and didn't hassle you as long as you were not drunk. Times have changed.

These days if you get caught with a open container, the consequences are severe. You can loose your drivers license, get your car impounded and get taken to the pokie. If your drunk, things get even worse. Then there's fines, increased auto insurance rates, the embarrasement of the ordeal, court and other situations. Bottom line, don't drink and drive.

Yet if you think about it, who would want to drink and drive? You place your life in danger, the lives of those in your car and other motorists in danger. It just makes no sense to risk so much. Please, don't drink and drive.

Do you like learning about things? They say that knowledge is powerful when applied properly. From experience over the many years of my life, I have found that my pursuit in learning about simple things like auto mechanics, writing, graphic designs and the Internet has helped me many times and saved me lots of money.

Just imagine if you picked a subject or topic and Googled it every day and read about it for one hour each day. One year later, you would have 356 hours of studies around that one topic. Maybe you could pick something that has to do with your career, your family, raising children, or about art or painting. Just imagine all the knowledge and information you would gain. It's good to follow others. We all sometimes need leadership. It's also good to be a part of a good cause, movement or something that has worth to it. However, if we get stuck in the habit of following others and their dreams, we just might fall short in pursing the very dreams and call of the Lord in our own lives. Sometimes God calls us to follow others and their dreams. However, many times the Lord after seasons of preparation will call us to follow the very dreams that He has imparted to us. Fear can cripple a person and become a controlling factor in their life. Of course there is natural fear that we all occasionally encounter. However, when fear starts to become a controlling factor in one's life as a stronghold, there's something wrong.

There is a scripture that basically states "you have not been given a spirit of fear, but of love, power and a sound mind". Note the word spirit. You see sometimes overwhelming strongholds of fear are exactly that. A spirit. A evil, wicked and unclean spirit that has rooted deeply within a person. When this happens it requires deliverance to be set free of that spirit. It requires the help of God.

If you are finding your life being controlled by un natural fear, contact a local church and talk with someone. They can help you. They will be able to counsel you, give you scriptural advice, pray for you and God can use them to set you free.

Have you ever been there. Watching something unfold that was not suppose to happen. Sometimes our inability to listen and stubbornness brings forth the complete opposite of what God had planned. Other times we become surrounded by others that make so much noise that when God speaks we can't hear and don't listen.

The outcomes can be either blessings or curses, and sometimes seasons of time to change course that are like walking up a steep hill.

Anger rages like a fire. It is destructive and can start major life fires. For the angry man or woman that daily deals with anger, frustrations gone wild and bitterness. These things wage war on their lives and the lives of others around them. Fires get started, fired that devour. When anger gets out of control and starts becoming deeply rooted it takes a persons character over. If un checked or dealt with, it also affects that persons health. Anger is simply not healthy fruit.

Wrath is cruel, and anger is outrageous; but who is able to stand before envy? Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of fools. He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly: and a man of wicked devices is hated. It is better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman.

I love to rest in God. Life comes with many different challenges and sometimes those challenges can overwhelm us. Over the years I've learned a very important fruit of the Spirit. Patience! Within such, I've learned to rest in God, to not respond so quickly or become easily offended by situations. I simply take a deep breath and start praying when situations arise. When we rest in God, we find God's peace, wisdom and counsel flowing and that simply calms the storms. It helps us to put things into perspective.

Let me encourage you to rest in God when things seem to overwhelm you. Remember, yesterday is gone, today is here, and tomorrow will take care of it's self. Allow Jesus to calm the storms, and allow the Holy Spirit to minister peace to you.

As we come to know God and His ways, our walk with God and as a Christian goes through many seasons and challenges. We encounter many of the same situations and circumstances in life that we did prior to becoming a Christian. The difference is that as the seasons unfold hopefully we mature and character comes forth, as we look at and see things differently. The old man starts to pass away and as new creations in Christ, the birthing process unfolds.

Sometimes we fall back into old patterns, however as the holy Spirit brings conviction to us, we find ourselves seeking the forgiveness and direction of a loving Savior. It is written that Jesus will complete the good work that He has begun in us. Now that's good news, knowing that Christ will never leave us or forsake us, and that our precious Lord is always there to hold our hand and lead us in the ways of righteousness.

Thank God that we have such a loving, compassionate and forgiving Savior.

I think it would be fair to say that the Bible is filled with some mysterious, weird, and strange things. I could list many many scriptures that you might agree with me on. But to save some time how about chariots of fire, an axe head floating in water, a man named Elijah that killed 100's of men with a knife no bigger than a kitchen knife, the dead coming back to life, people drinking Jesus's blood, the sons of God that came from heaven to earth, saw that the daughters of men were fair, took of them, came into them and produced giants in the land, angels appearing in human form, a woman being turned to a rock of salt, and on and on ...

I love reading the Bible and I think back to those seasons when I devoured it day after day. It is the most interesting book I have ever read. It is also the most life changing book I have ever read.

Just imagine if your house was not built on concrete, but rather sand. Things could become very unstable at any given time. A earthquake could occur, or a winter storm. This evening we are attending a special celebration gathering. Some worship, lots of great food and fellowship and of course all the kids will have a blast. All week long my daughter has been counting the days with great excitement about tonight's gathering. She's only five, yet she's so excited about attending tonight. Just the thought and excitement of attending has brought her happiness.

It's such a blessing to see children smile and filled with excitement and joy. Remember those days.

It amazes me some of the things that are said of church people. Yes, they shout, sing, clap, dance, laugh, have fun and get pretty crazy at times. Now if you do those things in a bar, at a football game, a basketball game or any other sports gathering, well it's perfectly OK. If you do it over a six pack, you're cool. If you do it at a party where every one's intoxicated, it's acceptable. But church? No way, right?

Church, gone wild. Church should be filled with joy, for the joy of the Lord is our strength. Church should be overflowing and filled with joy. The worshippers should be leaping with joy, shouting, clapping, dancing and having a blast. Besides, who likes a boaring church?

Is there someone that you've lost contact with? Maybe a old high school friend, maybe a old co worker, maybe a relative or close close family member?
